Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival 2026 is a year to never forget. In partnership with REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project and Sunbelt Rentals, a new benchmark was set for sustainable live events. Now known as the first 3-day music festival in the US to deploy hybrid batter power across its entire festival footprint (all front and back of house operations). Rock The Ocean Foundaiton and Live Nation, as co-production parters, have reimagined how major events can be powered, demonstrating that world-class production and meaningful sustainability can go hand in hand.
The systems implemented eliminated nearly 4,000 hours of unnecessary generator runtime and the solar and hybrid light towers and electric forklifts prevented 10,302 pounds of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere. While in 2023 there were only 4 Energy Storage System batteries, flash forward to 2026, there are 30 battery systems used across the site – showcasing that large-scale festivals are able to reduce their environmental footprint and continue to allow the festival goers to have a wonderful time.
